Hi Guys.

I am on the look out for a new network monitoring tool. Been playing with Zabbix but getting more and more pissed off with the lack of forum support and hard it is to do simple tasks. I am really liking the look of netXMS and the documentation is by far the best i have seen in a long time. Screen shots speak a million words. Hats off to you

Anyway what i am looking for from a Monitoring tool is thus.

So can NetXMS do?

1) Monitor Windows disk space

2) Monitor Windows Memory?

3) Monitor CPU Usage?

4) Monitor Windows Services

5) Monitor Windows Event Viewer Logs? ( i think from something i was reading is was in the pipeline. Any ideas when this will be availabale?)

6) Monitor Servers via SNMP

7) Monitor HP servers , disk array , temperature, failed fans , failed disk

8) Monitor servers uptime via ICMP or better

9) Network maps. Can i create a network map with icons the represent servers, switches , routers, workstations , internet etc etc

I apologise in advance if this information is in the documentation but i just need a quick overview as to can it do what i want. (i hope so)

Thanks again for any help you can give

Cheers

Yes, through SNMP, and you need HP Insight Manager agent installed on server.

Yes, you can monitor server availablity with ICMP pings (or event monitor ping response times), or check availability of TCP services (like http).

I would say partially yes :) Unfortunately, maps is not strongest part of NetXMS. You can create maps, add objects and links between them, but you cannot change pictures for them. There are also probably many bugs with the maps. However, you can try :)

There are also another maps implementation as standalone application, you can try it as well (see here: https://www.netxms.org/forum/index.php/topic,364.0.html).

Thanks Victor.

Well guess who is about to move away from Zabbix.........Me!

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my questions it is very much appriciated. My heart did sink a bit when i read about the maps feature not being to good but the link you posted for the module looks to be just the ticket and exactly what i am after. Once of the reason i was using Zabbix was the maps and now i can move away with some confidence.

Hopefully i can get nxtxms installed next week.

Thanks again
