Hi all,

I noticed today that the CISCO-WLC driver does not recognize the modern Catalyst 9800 WLCs.
I tried setting CISCO-WLC as custom attribute "snmp.driver", but the driver used on the node stays CISCO-GENERIC, even after Polling a Full Configuration.

I assume that the driver does not recognize modern Controllers, but only the AireOS models.
Is there a chance to get the driver working with 9800s? I am aware that there have been essential changes in the way the controllers work as well as in the MIBs. If I can assist you in any way, I would love to do so.

Hi!

Any chance you can provide me remote SNMP access to some test controller? That would simplify driver development significantly. In any case, could you please point out to relevant MIB files? I will check for differences with what existing driver is using, and decide if it can be adapted or if it should be completely different driver.

Best regards,
Victor

Hi,

is this feature in active development?
I'm not able to provide remote access but maybe some snmpwalks can help?

Kind regards

Yes, just do a full snmp walk starting from .1  You can upload the output to here https://cloud.radensolutions.com/s/SHniBXHz5PJKpeR (file won't be visible on the web page once upload is complete, but it will be there). Drop us a message when it's uploaded.

Also please share relevant MIB files.

Sorry for the late response.
I can't dump from .1 because there's too much information that I had to filter for security reasons.
Could you please specify what information is required?
I'm assuming:

• Hardware Model (String)
• Is Virtual (Boolean)
• OS Version (String)
• OID path for linked Access Points (Oid tree)
• Base Oid ? (String)
• MAC Address (String)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but specific information like CPU usage isn't relevant for the driver, is it?

also the following should be in a template and not driver?:

• local interfaces (Oid tree)
• configured wifis (oid tree)

Hello,

I have uploaded a walk from .1 (.txt) and the mib-files (.zip):

C9800-L-universalk9_wlc.17.12.05.SPA.bin-v2.zip
wlc-C9800-L-F-K9-walk.txt

I have edited the walk to remove company name and domains.

the data is from 2-Unit-Failover environment with currently 40 active AP. Also showing 86 rogue access points from the neighborhood.

Please keep the data confidential. Thanks.

best...
Detlev
